Mammography

A mammogram is a method of detecting a lump in the breast before it is large enough to be felt. The American Cancer Society states that the use of mammography, clinical breast examination, and finding and reporting breast changes early offer women the best opportunity for reducing the breast center death rate, through early detection. Their recommendation is as follows:

Women age 40 and older should have a screening mammogram every year, and should continue to do so for as long as they are in good health.

Bone Densitometry

Osteoporosis affects more than 44 million Americans, resulting in debilitating bone fractures and abnormal curvature of the spine. At Palms West Breast Center, we are able to detect this weakening of the bones by using the latest, precise Lunar Prodigy bone densitometer. Risk factors for osteoporosis include age, ethnicity, and certain medical conditions, among others. Based on the results of your test, your physician will be able to determine which treatment is the best option for you.
