Water is a unique and effective therapeutic tool. The warm, buoyant water enables the body to move with greater ease in a relaxing and healing environment. The buoyancy of the water decreases the weight through painful joints, the warmth of the water assists in relaxing muscles as well as increasing blood flow, while the resistance helps strengthen all the muscles of the body.
The Outpatient Rehabilitation and Aquatics Center at Palms West Hospital features an in-ground, in-door, heated therapy pool staffed by aquatic-trained therapy professionals. We offer individualized aquatic sessions as a primary form of therapy or as an excellent adjunct to land-based therapy programs.
Aquatic therapy is especially beneficial to patients with the following conditions:
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Chronic Pain
- Post-Operative Spine and Total Joint Surgeries
- Various orthopedic and neurological conditions where land-based therapy alone is not enough
Through the combination of water principles and proper therapeutic techniques, aquatics can achieve many desired results.
- Increased Joint Mobility
- Increased Muscle Strength and Flexibility
- Decreased Pain
- Improved Function
- Improved Balance
Upon completion of your therapy program, which may include aquatics, you are eligible to join our Wellness program and utilize the aquatics center at your convenience to maintain your benefits.
