Childbirth Education Programs

Offering the Entire Family Peace of Mind

The New Life Center at Palms West Hospital is proud to offer our pre-registered patients the most outstanding group of childbirth educational classes within our community. Our priority is to make you feel comfortable and as prepared as possible for every aspect of your labor and delivery. Please call (561) 345-7009 to register for classes.

Childbirth Class

These classes are useful for expectant couples to learn about the entire childbirth process from the first signs of labor to tips on newborn care.

Our childbirth classes are offered in two different ways to accommodate your schedule. We offer a Saturday class from 8:30am – 4:30pm. The other option is a four week series, held on four consecutive Thursday nights from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Newborn Care

This class is designed for first time parents who desire a preparation course for the care of their newborn. Topics include: normal newborn characteristics, bathing, care of the umbilical cord and circumcision, diaper changing, soothing and feeding, and when to call the pediatrician.


Breastfeeding is a natural process that has many benefits for baby, as well as mom. This class will help you gain the skills and confidence for a rewarding and successful breastfeeding experience. Topics include: advantages of breastfeeding, how breast milk is produced, proper latch-on and positioning techniques, helpful hints for the first few days at home, nutrition while breastfeeding, and returning to work. Fathers and/or coaches are encourages to attend

Siblings Class

This class helps siblings of all ages feel comfortable and special in their new roles as big brothers or sisters. Having a new baby in the house can be a challenging transition. The siblings may react in various ways to the impending birth of another child, so our class speaks to what the baby will do, how the sibling can help out, and how important they are to the family unit.

Maternity Unit Tour

We offer a tour that helps provide the expectant family with information on the importance of pre-registration, the labor admission, what to expect during your hospital stay, normal newborn procedures, and infant safety and security. A walking tour of the unit is provided so the new family can become familiar with the hospital, and The New Life Center.

Infant CPR

This class is recommended for parents, grandparents and caregivers of the newborn to learn hands-on CPR techniques. Through instruction and hands-on education on infant dolls, you will be educated by a registered nurse, who is also a certified CPR instructor, on:

Teenage Pregnancy Class

Offering teen education and support, these classes address body changes, fetal growth, proper nutrition, baby care and safety, breastfeeding, and overall infant health.
