Minimally invasive urologic surgery

Urologic surgery may be an effective treatment option when noninvasive methods of care, such as lifestyle changes or medications, don't provide relief. We use minimally invasive techniques, including robotic surgery, for many delicate urologic procedures, such as:

Prostatectomy

A prostatectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the prostate. During the surgery, the surgeon may remove only part of the prostate (simple prostatectomy) or the entire prostate (radical prostatectomy).

The type of prostatectomy that may be right for you depends on your condition. For example, an enlarged prostate may be treated with a simple prostatectomy when noninvasive treatments aren't effective, and prostate cancer may be treated with a radical prostatectomy. We offer robotic techniques for both types of prostatectomy.

Ureteral reflux treatment

If the urethra is injured or blocked, it can cause permanent damage to the kidney or be life-threatening. While very rare, our team is well-equipped to perform emergent procedures affecting the kidneys.

Ureteral repair surgery

Sometimes the urethra may require repair due to congenital development issues or physical injuries. We can often perform these repairs with robotic surgery.

Vesicoureteral reflux treatment

Vesicoureteral reflux is a condition in which the ureter enters the bladder in an unusual way. This causes urine to flow back toward the kidney, which can cause kidney damage. Vesicoureteral reflux may produce symptoms, such as persistent urination, burning during urination, blood in the urine, strong-smelling urine, abdominal pain or frequent UTIs.

To treat this condition, we offer robotic ureteral reimplantation in which we surgically correct the ureter's connection to the bladder.
