Pediatric Residency Program

The Palm Beach Consortium for Graduate Medical Education (PBCGME) offers a three-year program in Pediatrics accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), in transition through the Single Accreditation System to accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A hospital dedicated to providing both graduate and undergraduate medical training, Palms West Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Palms West provides 204 beds, and serves as a training site for the emergency medicine residency programs at St. Lucie Medical Center and Aventura Hospital & Medical Center, the family medicine residencies at Largo Medical Center and St Lucie Medical Center, and the anesthesiology residency at Kendall Regional Medical Center.

Palms West Hospital has 29 private pediatric beds, a pediatric oncology center and an eight bed pediatric intensive care unit staffed by a team of pediatric critical care specialists. The units house the latest in pediatric equipment and are designed with rooms for the research and education of the house staff. The patient environment is enhanced by the addition of playrooms and child life services. The hospital also has an active obstetrical service and a level II NICU staffed by a team of neonatologists. The pediatric department has a generous staff of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. This allows the residents the opportunity to work one-on-one with the various subspecialists in daily patient care. The hospital also boast a pediatric emergency department staffed with board certified pediatric emergency physicians and a team specially trained for the special medical needs of children.
